Changing a Lawn Tractor Tire yourself

So for starters reason or another you need to change the tire on your lawn tractor. Perhaps the tire is dry rotted or possibly it has a hole in it somewhere. In either case we will look at tips on how to do that at residence with a few tools most people have in their toolbox. You will need 2 long flat headed screwdrivers, a pair of vise grips, some dish soap, a blade, hammer, New Tire and tube, as well as an compressor (optional).

Taking out the old tire

The very first thing we need to do would be to get rid of the rim from your tractor, I know this should actually be self explanatory but I am trying to be thorough here (LOL). Once you've the rim in front of you find a tricky surface for instance a work bench or even the floor. Release the air from the tire, once a lot of the air is out cut the valve stem off with the blade. Now while using hammer start beating the tire alongside the rim bead until the tire breaks free from the rim. Now you can turn the tire over and do exactly the same thing. As soon as the tire is free from the rim, clamp the vise grip to the rim lip. Now require a screwdriver and location it inside the rim next to the vise grips to carry the tire slightly up off the rim. Now while using other screwdriver slide the screwdriver around within the bead before the tire bead comes off all the way around. Repeat this procedure again to remove the inner bead and remove the tire from the rim.

Installing the new tire

First you will want to lube the beads up real very good with dish washing soap. Now put the tire on the rim and slowly begin working the bead on the lip. This can take some effort and some force. After you have the bottom bead you will now want you insert your tube evenly (note if you are not replacing the tube or wish to not have a tube it is possible to skip this step, However if you do not need a tube you must install a new valve stem). Pull the tubes valve stem up through the hole and clamp it using a pair of vise grips to help keep it from falling back via (needle nose work best). Now perform the most notable bead onto the rim using the same procedure as earlier described.

You have installed the tire. Install enough air to obtain the beads to create and then set your pressure to the advised pressure on the tire. Your task is now total.
